    When importing into a ClarisWorks or AppleWorks 5.0 database from a text file, the maximum number of characters that can be imported into a text field is 255.

DISCUSSION

    If you try to import a field with more characters, you'll see an alert and any text after the 255th character is not imported.

    Even though the maximum number of characters in a text field is about 1000, the maximum number that can be imported is 255.

    Note : AppleWorks is the new name for ClarisWorks.
