    The Classic environment in Mac OS X Public Beta does not work with serial ports.

DISCUSSION

    Symptom

    The Classic environment may stop responding when an attempt is made to print to a serial printer. An alert box may appear with the message:
      notInitErr (-900)

    Start up your computer using Mac OS 9 when you need to use a serial device.
